Do I need software to do this? I want to use this backup as an emergency restore if ever needed. Thank youif you have windows, they have software on vista, and maybe xp, idk, any way, search for back up and restore center in your computer I just did this its great I got a 250gb for 99 bucks at best buy. All my music, videos and pics are on it and my comp is faster then ever No, I don't think you need software. You probably just need Ethernet to communicate to your other computers so you can transfer data between them! I have this and all I need is a hub connecting them then I can connect to server and there is all my stored info. You can use a program like Ghost to backup a "snapshot" of your drive. If you use this method, you can restore the entire drive to its previous state in a very short time, about 15 to 20 minutes. Here is a link: http://www.symantec.com/themes/ghost/ind...
You could also using Windows backup or the like but if you have a catastrophic disk failure, you have to reinstall your programs anyway, which defeats the purpose of backing up the entire system. You might as well just backup your important data.
No. It's easy, just get an external hard drive and the software is already in it for you. External drives are awesome. Also once you've backed everything up don't keep the external drive hooked up to your computer. #If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
