» I need help with an adjective in Japanese...
I want to describe something as "blood-red"... I know that red is "akai", but is there any way I can portray the sense of a darker colour red? Also, would this adjective come before or after my noun?i dunno enough japanese to even start to answer your question, but i'd guess the answer would give you something slightly unauthentic.. what you need to realize is that most languages don't have anywhere CLOSE to the amount of names for colours that english has.. Take swedish.. sure, you COULD say "Blood Red" just by direct translation (Blod Röd) but that doesn't exactly tell the swede anything.. they'll just go "ok.. so red then?" we usually only use "dark red", "bright red" and "red" for reds and the equivalent for all other colours. ...... - 2010-03-17
» Suspected leak in slab
I have been helping a small church with a problem and need some advice. We suspected a leak in a copper hot water line in the slab. I put a gauge on the hose bib at the mop sink , opened the valve and closed the input valve to the hot water heater. The pressure drops (about 4psi over two hours) but comes back up later (quite a bit, almost double). I expect this to be caused by cooling and heating in the tank. Should I turn off the heater for a while and run the test and if so how long?Bob: The easiest and cheapest way to check for a leak is to use a little "gizmo" that you can make yourself. All you need are some fittings, a gauge, a ball valve, old washing machine hose, and an air compressor. You will need (1) 1/4-in tee (T), (2)...... - 2010-03-17

» Why is my friend suddenly being meaner towards me?
I've been friends with this girl (i'll call...B) for a long time, (almost 4 years) and she's suddenly been a little bit meaner towards me. On Myspace she's always sending mean messages, and then there are some messages she sends me that are nice. Like she'll send some to me saying "you look so weird." and "your crush is a total mother f*cker" (even though he's a lot nicer than who she likes) and then she'll send me messages...not really nice, but good conversations. I just wonder why she's all the sudden being mean towards me. I haven't really done anything to make her mad, but I told her it wasn't fun messaging her when she's making fun of me, but then she just made fun of me again...... - 2010-03-17
» Safety of Business Jets
What with all the changes in the airline industry - security, financial problems, etc. - I've been thinking of using chartered business jets for some of my travel, especially when travelling to smaller cities. My question is this: are business jets as safe as commercial airliners? And, how could one judge the safety of a particular jet/charter operator?Hello jim-ga, On the whole, business jets are as safe as commercial airliners. Ive collected a variety of resources that provide specifics about particular airplane models, makers and operators to help you get a better idea of how to evaluate what might be available to serve your needs. As you indicated, the airline industry is in turmoil and service levels are changing as n...... - 2010-03-17

» Louisiana Weather = Macro Shots
I have had my camera for about two weeks and thanks to my work schedule and the lovely Louisiana weather I haven't been able to take it outside at all. Hour after hour of rain almost everyday. So I just brought it to work and tried to find something to shoot but really don't have many options. I finally just started playing with a bunch of macro shots. I only have one lens at this time, a Nikkor 28-80mm that came with the camera. After learning the camera and playing with the settings, I finally came up with one shot I sort of like and I have no idea why. Here is the original: http://www.fuzzyb3av3r.com/script/uploads/4b8e3beac5.jpg Yes, I am bored at work and stacking cigarettes up. Not the best subject but its what I have. » Need new camera
Here's the story: I've been using a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ5 for the past year and a bit, but now it's broken and no longer covered under warrenty. To fix it would cost almost as much as buying a new camera, so I've decided not to follow that path. I'm thinking of buying a DSLR to replace it, but I've a few issues... 1. I already have some Canon EF lenses 2. I use SD cards, which Canon DSLRs don't support but Nikon ones do 3. I'm still in highschool, so safety and rough usage may be an issue I know that lenses will cost me more in the long run than memory cards, but still. I have a pretty tight budget, so I'll only be able to afford the cheapest cameras. Or I could get another Lumix, only I would eventually have to buy a DSLR anyway. I was...... - 2010-03-17

» Work in japan, need to have something?
I need to have something the country wants right? like engineering or a good computer tech. manager? thoughs seem to be the popular ones. :?Not necessarily. Anybody (from developed countries) can get a working visa, or a cultural, student, investor visa that permits you to work in Japan. The easiest way to get a working visa if you are a native speaker of English (possibly also French, Italian, Spanish, German, etc.) is to apply for a teaching position in a big language school, then you can find whatever job you want (if you speak Japanese, it's quite easy).i know its kinda ignorant to want to live and work in japan with not knowing any japanese. The group have also pledged technology and $1m (£550,000) to the fight. In particular, both physicians and consumers are becoming aware of the use of herbals by Native American societies; many botanicals sold today as dietary supplements in the United States were used by Native Americans for similar purposes. They have a version optimized for mobile browsers too which works fine with the iPhone. » Digital Portfolio on a DVD or CD
Hello This is my first post and although I saw another similar post about this, I figured Id introduce myself and ask here. I have been, as a semi-pro artistic photographer, amassing a lot of cool digital photos over the last few years. Id like to make a portfolio on a CD or DVD containing the best of the bunch, that would have music in the background and also the possibility to insert a few sentences about each photo, or a paragraph at the beginning of a group of photographs, title page, etc... Also - is it possible to have the presentation in sync with the music? Have the viewer choose from several songs to play? Well that might be too complicated, but a polished presentation is what I am after. Anyhow someone told me that ...... - 2010-03-17
» Solve the following quadratic equation by a method of your choice: y to the 2 + 12y + 11 = 0. ?
y^2 + 12y + 11 = 0 Find two numbers that when multiplied together equal 11 and when added together equal 12. The numbers are 1 and 11, in this case. Now put them in the equation like this: (y + 1)(y + 11) = 0 The opposite signs of the numbers you found are the y values. y = -1, y = -11 I found this by factoring. The other methods you can use are the quadratic formula or completing the square. I always go with one of the first two (you can't factor all the time), since completing the square is more difficult, in my opinion.i juST ACED THIS CLASS MAN EEEEZzzzZZyy 2+13 bring to da oher side that be making 12y = -13 12y multiply to da oher side y = 12 * -13 y = -156 EEZZzzzzyif u just solve it algebraically... 12y...... - 2010-03-17

PSG loses another, going down 3-2 to Metz. Signorino (8),Obraniak (27),Tum (73) score for Metz. Pierre-Fanfan (51), and Yepes (58) for PSG. Not surprising to see no production out of PSG at the Striker position. This is just more proof that we need to ship Pauleta to the Superleague as soon as possible, and bring in a striker with a desire to put the biscuit in the basket. Sickening to score 2 goals and go down.Since around Valentine's Day (Bordeaux), PFF and Yepes have more goals than 75% of the entire squad, inlcuding Reinaldo, Pancrate, Rothen, Semak, and many others. That's unacceptable; we need proven striking talent for next year. No doubt....... - 2010-03-17

» If some people say that humans evolved from monkeys and apes , then why are there still apes and monkeys?
B/c God created men and woman, go read the bibleGood question! As you point out, it is unlikely that they evolved from a species that is still with us today. The general consensus is that humans evolved from an earlier simian form that likely also gave rise to some of our other primates. So we are not the great grandchildren of monkeys, but rather their cousins. BTW, this isn't theory, it is fact supported by the DNA.Because they evolved from our common ancestor too. We humans got smarter. The great apes, including chimpanzees, got stronger. They are stronger than us humans. (A 180-pound chimp would wipe the floor with a 180-pound human, even a college wrestler.) » Q&a On Avian Flu
Q&A ON AVIAN FLU http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/news/nation/14414143.htm Is there bird flu in the United States? Yes and no. Birds get hundreds of flu viruses and no doubt some are present in birds here. However, the deadly strain of H5N1 — that has resulted in the deaths of more than 100 humans and millions of birds, mostly in Asia — has yet to be found in North America. • What does H5N1 mean? The various subtypes of avian influenza are named for surface proteins found on viruses. The highly pathogenic strain you hear about now is just one subtype of an H5N1 virus. • How does bird flu spread? Through nasal secretions and feces of infected birds. Contaminated equipment, clothing and equipment can spread it as well as close ...... - 2010-03-17

» New version of Moon Child released.
Hey all, For those of you disgusted with the US version of Moon Child, just wanted to let you know there's a region 3 version now available. There really aren't any special features to speak of, but it is in 5.1 surround. The manufacturer of the disc is Universe Laser. I have a few of their DVD's, like Heroic Duo and Battle Royale 2 and the quality is spot on. It is a surprise that UL didn't include a DTS track, as all of their other DVD releases I have seen have offered DTS. Rush job? Dunno. But it is wicked cheaper than the US release and has 5.1. » Stupid question carbon dioxide is it bad?
wait im so confuzzled let me know a little about what u may know about ityes and no, yes because it contributes to GreenHouse effect and helps Global Warming, no because plants need it to produce oxygen (O2)Carbon dioxide is necessary for plants to make food for all animals. They use it as a raw material for glucose. Oxygen is released as a byproduct which is also beneficial to us. Carbon dioxide is needed in a very small amount to keep us breathing correctly Too much is a problem, not because it is poisonous (as is carbon monoxide) but because it replaces the oxygen in the air. Too much causes the green house effect which is global warming. Carbon dioxide is used in the cone shaped fire extinguishers to put out electrical fires. Soli...... - 2010-03-17

» Insurance for photographers...
I need to get insurance for our business. I called our current insurer for our home and cars and got a quote for $70/month. That was for $1 million liability, $25,000 for equiptment and supplies and $10,000 for computer and software. However, they don't cover the camera if it is dropped or damaged by a customer. They only cover for theft, acts of God, etc. I know there are some insurers that specialize in photography insurance, anyone here use one or have one the recommend? » Why did European countries only make sparse attempts at colonization in Africa to 1880?
Lack of technology, malaria, and knowledge of the land basically limited Europeans to coastal contacts with Sub-Saharan Africa. Malaria was a huge problem in the interior. Also, Africa was known as the "Dark Continent" not only because of the skin color of the inhabitants of Sub-Saharan Africa, but also because the Europeans and Arabs really had no maps of Sub-Saharan Africa. However, with greater advancements in industrialization (and weapon making) in Europe, an antidote for malaria, and information on the layout (with explorers like Livingstone plaving the way), the Europeans were then able to make incursions into the interior of Africa....... - 2010-03-17

But learning another language in an english based country is kinda hard for me.It's surprising ...... - 2010-03-17

» Industry vows fight on child porn
Thousands of child pornography images will be collected into a database to prevent further distribution, a group of online companies has announced. The coalition is made up of five online giants, including Yahoo and Microsoft, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The group have also pledged technology and $1m (£550,000) to the fight. "These leading companies have a wealth of expertise and technological tools that can help protect children and reduce the proliferation of sexually abusive images of children," said Ernie Allen, president and CEO of NCMEC. California OKs Sanitec´s pathological waste system (http://www.wastenews.com/headlines2.html?id=1156873759) Aug. 29 -- The California Department of Health has approved the use of a California manufacturer´s microwave waste disinfection system for processing pathological waste, such as human organs and tissue. Currently, California requires pathological waste from medical procedures to be trucked out of state for processing. Thanks Shannon Inflammation and Native American medicine: the role of botanicals Andrea T Borchers, Carl L Keen, Judy S Stern and M Eric Gershwin http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/72/2/339#T3 There is a growing interest in medicinal botanicals as part of complementary medicine in the United States. In particular, both physicians and consumers are becoming aware of the use of herbals by Native American societies; many botanicals sold today as dietary supplements in the United States were used by Native Americans for similar purposes. Yet, these supplements represent only a small number of the >2500 different plant species from vascular taxa, and >2800 species from all taxa, known to have been prized for their medicinal properties by th...... - 2010-03-17

do they have a little chance of making it at least? theyre 4-8 and broncos are 7-5. with four games left and they play each other on the last week. still a chance right? damn those chagers suck... and which two teams do u think is going to make it to the superbowl? The Chargers have about a 8% chance of making the playoffs. Broken down by how they finish: 4 - 0 . . . 50.3% 3 - 1 . . . 7.2% 2 - 2 . . . Out 1 - 3 . . . Out 0 - 4 . . . OutThe chargers still have norvy so they won't be winning anything. If there's no way i can choose Firefox, is there i way i can maybe transfer all my bookmarks from Firefox into IE?One way is to use Foxmarks. This is a free plugin for Firefox which syncs the bookmarks up to their server. You can then visit their website to view all the bookmarks. They have a version optimized for mobile browsers too which works fine with the iPhone. A couple of things to note are 1) When I set mine up I had to account for the fact I have third-party cookies disabled in Firefox.

» Metz vs PSG [R]

Rush job? Dunno. But it is wicked cheaper than the US release and has 5.1. wait im so confuzzled let me know a little about what u may know about ityes and no, yes because it contributes to GreenHouse effect and helps Global Warming, no because plants need it to produce oxygen (O2)Carbon dioxide is necessary for plants to make food for all animals.

I workout after school for baseball and it is usually crowded in our gym because of all the other sport teams. I can only get to do all the free weights because the mats are usually taken. I'm just looking for an effective routine that i can do before i go to bed every night.I used to do this every other day: Lay on your back with your legs straight out, hands underneath your buttocks. Lift your legs slowly to a 90 degree angle, then slowly lower them to about 4-6 inches off the ground. Repeat that like, 10-20 times.Tony Little Ab-Lounge Xtreme...... - 2010-03-17

» You people think some rap and hip-hop is nasty? What about some ROCK?
I see alot of people talking about how some rap and hip-hip is nasty, degrading, talks about women alot, annoying, and has alot of cuss words in it. Well, what about rock? You people say rock is better, but rock sometimes also takes about women, cusses alot, sex, drugs and can be nasty and as you people call "degrading" to and annoying sometimes, just with a loud guitar. Like for exapile "So Hott" by Kid Rock. That song had cussing in it, talking about a girl, kinda nasty, and he said in a part of it "I don't wanna be your friend I wanna f**k you like I'm never gonna see u again" so right there he talked about sex. That one song by ACDC "TNT" seems like a song that you people would call "annoying" just think if some rapper started...... - 2010-03-17

I thought I had restored it to how it was before but now the submenudialog doesnt have a background.... How can fix it?The background image is probably no longer in SVN.
